Group - I
- Whole moong dal - 1/2 cup
- Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
- Salt to taste
Group - II
- Oil - 1-2 tbsp
- Cumin - 3/4 tsp
- Coriander seeds - 3/4 tsp
- Pepper corns- 1/2 tsp
- Red chillies - 2 (halved)
- Green chillies - 4
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Garlic - 4 (chopped)
- Shallot - 1/2 cup (chopped)
Method
- Roast the dal & pressure cook with salt.
- The dal should look broken & slightly mashy.
- Heat oil in the pan.
- Fry the group II ingredients one by one in the same order.
- When the onions turn brown, add the dal & mix well, till the dal is completely mashy.
- Add a spoon of coconut oil & garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
Tips for the recipe - This can also be cooked with any heavy bottom pan. This should not be very watery. Dal should be mashy. You can also serve this with a spoon of ghee.
